This is the site for news and information
about the Choir of St Bartholomew's Church, Rainhill.
We hope you enjoy reading about the choir
and its musical life.
"Music is a
more potent instrument than any other for education, because rhythm and harmony find their way into the inward places of the
soul."

In an era of diminishing church choirs, St Bart's stands out as
one of the few remaining Roman Catholic parishes in the diocese to boast a flourishing choral tradition.
The choir of St Bart's has recently, in 2006, celebrated its tenth
birthday and throughout its life has contributed greatly to the liturgical and musical life of the parish and Rainhill.
As a result we have a vast repertoire of music from plainsong to present day, from classics to modern, which enriches the
weekly worshipping life of the parish.
The Choir is committed to regular churchgoing,
as well as to attending the Thursday night practice. We sing at a Parish Mass every weekend of the year and at the major
celebrations of Easter and Christmas. We also sing at a large number of parishoners' weddings throughout the year, helping to make their celebrations more
special.
In addition we hold musical events throughout the year, which
may include formal and informal concerts, training days, vocal workshops and vocal tuition. Our social activities
have included weekends away, social gatherings or a simple get-together in the local pub after a stimulating rehearsal!
At present, we are forming a children's choir in the parish. We envisage that this choir will sing both for
children's services and with the main choir. Rehearsals are at church, in the upstairs tower room, every Thursday in
term time from 7 p.m. to 7.40. New members are always welcome.
Mission Statement
To enhance the liturgy through music
and thereby enrich the worshipping life
of the congregation of
St Bartholomew's Church.
