Hymn choice.
You may also wish to choose a number of hymns to complement your ceremony. Most couples choose two or three hymns and find that this number is sufficient without over filling the
service.
Suitable places for hymns in the service occur at the beginning, after the first reading
in place of the psalm, during the signing of the register, at the offertory (only for masses) during or after communion and
as a final hymn.
To
help you with your choice we have listed below some of the hymns that have been sung at weddings at St Bartholomew’s
during recent years. Preceding each hymn is the hymn book number from "Hymns old & new", the hymn book in use at St Bartholomew's.
Please note that some hymns may have a verse which is unsuitable to be included in the marriage service. These verses are
best and easily omitted.
